The Police show in Dallas was amazingly just ok. I wasn't moved by it like I was with U2, Coldplay or (sadly) even Van Halen.
There were interesting anticlimactic ostensibly throat-saving down-mods at the end of a few songs. Sting forgot the third verse for Don't Suck So Close To Me (that's what Stewart calls it) nearly causing a colossal train wreck. While his voice was in unprecedented excellent shape, Sting chickened out of singing a few signature high notes. He did however seemingly SCREAM high improvs & audience participation bits (one of which was severely plagiarized from Under a Blood Red Sky-era U2).
The highlight: Stewart's yummy orchestral percussion on Walking in Your Footsteps & Wrapped Around Your Finger (and his subsequent throwing mallets while scrambling to the drum kit just in time to hit each flawless downbeat).
Sting kept shooting Stewart dirty looks when Stewart would play over-the-bar drum fills on (some song... the title escapes me).
The verdict: Stay home. Watch the dvd instead. Sting has plenty of money (including nearly $200 of mine). He doesn't need yours. :)
