(Almost) The Most Exciting News Ever

According to the Murfreesboro Post, Taco Cabana is (sorta) coming to Tennessee! Texans rejoice!

New Tex-Mex restaurant to locate at The Avenue
By ERIN EDGEMON Business Editor

San Antonio, Texas-based Mexican restaurant chain Taco Cabana is preparing to open the first of a new concept of eateries at The Avenue lifestyle shopping center off Medical Center Parkway.

Tesoro’s Mexican Bistro is a more upscale version of Taco Cabana’s typical restaurant, said Shannon Logan, a planner with the Murfreesboro Planning Department.

The developer is looking to construct the nearly 5,000-square-foot restaurant with porch seating near LongHorn Steakhouse and a yet to be constructed Chili’s Bar & Grill, she said. Plans for Tesoro’s Mexican Bistro have yet to be approved by the city.

Representatives from Taco Cabana couldn’t be reached for comment regarding the project.
Taco Cabana began in San Antonio in 1978 as a taco stand and has since grown to more than 140 restaurants.

The restaurants feature a festive Mexican theme and serve generous portions of freshly prepared Mexican food at an exceptional value, according to the Taco Cabana Web site at www.tacocabana.com. Each day Taco Cabana kitchens prepare, by hand, homemade tortillas, a variety of salsas, grilled fajitas and other Mexican favorites.

Taco Cabana is owned by Carrols Corp. of Syracuse, N.Y., which owns and operates more than 540 restaurants under such brands as Burger King.

i don't care who their singer is as long as Adam Schlesinger writes more songs for them.

Sligh Not Sly About His Faith

Last season on American Idol nobody ever questioned Chris Daughtry's faith. (Mp3s of Daughrty's worship leading band Absent Element are still floating around the internet). Now Chris Sligh sings a few love songs and the folks at Bob Jones University are trippin'.

Star Wars Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service can't keep up with electronic billing so they're slapping R2-D2's cute little mug on a new series of collectors stamps set to commemorate the release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 30 years ago this May.

(Oh, and they're raising the postage rate.)
